So I joined a local running group today, for training and social purposes, and did my first little 7 mile group run. After I thought what a better time to try out a recipe from Thrive, and I happened to have almost all the ingredients for one of the recovery drinks. The recipe is on pg 127 and it’s called the Lemon-Lime Recover Drink. He suggests not eating heavily directly after a workout because the body has difficulty digesting when it’s fatigued. Makes sense. So this recipe is supposed to have the perfect ratio of protein to carbohydrate in order to aid in the muscle glycogen-regeneration process.
Lemon-Lime Recovery Drink
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Juice of 1/4 lime
2 cups water
2 tbsp agave nectar
1 tbsp hemp protein
1 tsp ground dulse flakes
1 tsp hemp oil or EFA Oil Blend
1/2 tsp lemon zest
—Blend all ingredients until smooth (keep refrigerated for up to 3 days)
So I didn’t have any lime, hemp protein, or agave but I just used extra lemon, hemp seeds, and honey. Overall tasted pretty good and I am feeling fantastic after my run!
